Happy three months into the new year everyone! I hope you're having a great 2026 so far- and, if you aren't, I'm sorry to hear that BUT I'm proud of you for hanging in there. Perhaps you can at least take solace in last year's selection of great movies? I mean, there were some real stinkers, but there were some awesome hits too! What better way to honor these movies than to discuss the 98th annual Academy Awards?! Our silly little award show did a decent job this year- I've only got one or two complaints regarding the nominees this go around, which is about as good as it gets. As always, choosing the winner is a bit arbitrary, but below I'll do my best to break down what I liked and what I think will win. Steam Deck: The Hardware

Alright, with the history lesson out of the way , let's actually take a look at this thing. What exactly is the Steam Deck?     On the outside, we've got a directional pad, ABXY face buttons, a Start/Menu button and a Select/Back/View(?) button, a pair of joysticks, a pair of shoulder buttons, and a pair of analog triggers- Typical of most console controllers. Underneath each thumbstick is a square trackpad- Just like the Steam Controller, these are usually employed to move a mouse cursor around the screen of a PC game that doesn't support console controllers, but they can be customized for any kind of purpose. The reverse side also sports four back paddles- the Steam Controller had two, but they ended up infringing on a patent that resulted in a $4m fine and the controller itself being taken off the market . 97th Academy Awards?!

(Channel 6 Action News) Did you see any good movies last year? 2024 was no Barbenheimer, but I still got to see a lot of cool, powerful stuff. The best thing about great art is sharing it with others! I love how movies allow others to share stories and perspectives in a succinct, potent, and accessible form. Stories from anyone, made for anyone! The Academy Awards are one of my favorite times of the year- I mean, the Academy is pretty self-inflated and you can never be quite sure whether the choices they make will stand the test of time, but it’s a great opportunity to celebrate movies and talk all about what did or didn’t deserve praise and attention. This time around, I’m not terribly interested in diving deep into all the nominees; There are some neat movies in play, some interesting award season narratives...
